so I accidentally f****d up my ipod using categories. I still had dock, which was really useful. I used dock to open customize, but customize couldnt restore my icons.

however, I knew that I had to have a new N45AP.plist for my icons to show. the only other thing I knew of was iorder

NOTE: you must have dock and open ssh for this to work. if you have dock you can use it to turn on ssh.
    so hers what you do:

    1) get iorder
    2) make any order fir your ipod that includes your apps (you can re-order them later with customize or iorder, this is jst to get them back)
    3) upload the N45AP.plist to your ipod via iorder's built-in ssh
    4) use dock to open SMBPrefs and restart your springoard.

    see, wasnt that easy?!

NOTE: you do not have to have all of your applications listed in your iorder N45AP.plisty for it to work. half of my apps arent even listed in iorder.

I solved this problem by simply uninstalling everything that had to do with Categories.
