The command line is an almighty tool in the hands of the skilled. For those who are new to it, the learning curve is steep.

On your iPod, you may have to use Terminal here and there, but I wouldn't try to "learn" the command line with it. Get a *NIX box running (or Mac), and get to know the command line.

You also can execute commands remotely from the comfort of a real keyboard via SSH (built-in for most *NIX systems).

If you don't know what you are doing, don't play with it.

Anytime you /need/ to use it, usually whatever guide you are following will be precise in what exactly you need to type.
