Hi guys. I've been lurking the forums for a month or so but finally made an account. Just wanted to say thanks for this thread as I was going to sell my 4 until I found out about straight talk.

read all these pages, i am now on virgin mobile and so sick of my Motorola Triumph I have gone through 4 replacements, camera breaks for each one. I have an old iPhone 3gs laying around so i am going to probably use that with ST.
My iphone was jailbroken before. If i update to 5.0.1 will it be unjailbroken? i dont care about jailbreaking my 3gs but if i get a 4 or a new 4s i dont want to jailbreak.
    just to clarify:
If i want MMS and dont want to jailbreak.. i have to use a t mobile sim and input info , thats it? ( i have a t mobile sim i just need to cut it)

It is no longer possible to update to 5.0.1 without SHSH blobs saved because Apple is now only signing 5.1, which has only a tethered jailbreak. If your 3GS is an old-bootrom, however, it will be untethered for any firmware. Check to see if it is old or new bootrom with Google.

I'm not sure if anyone else did this, but I got Onavo working with ST. Since i'm not jailbroken, I first installed the APN profile from the Onavo app and then did the T-Mobile SIM swap to edit the APN in settings with the profile installed.

I'm going to be getting a Black 16G iPhone 4 tomorrow to use on StraightTalk. Jailbreaking(which is not an option for me right now being it is 5.1 iOS) and the T-Mobile SIM card at the only way to get MMS and data working, correct? I'm a little confused after reading through all these posts.
