    The simplest, proven method to get MMS working is to jailbreak your iPhone.

    I just switched to a iphone 4 from a 4s last night and had my phone fully working/jailbroken/set up in about 20 minutes btw. So its simple. Just when you install tetherme correct the APN in the Cellular network and restart the phone and your set on data and mms

    thanks....i guess i'll have to try.....i'm assuming you went to the above site and downloaded what you needed? as you can see, i'm new to all this, not very computer savvy and alittle reluctant to jailbreak a phone in fear of screwing up.
    one question.....if i did do something to screw up the phone, is it an easy way to get the phone back working? i've herd of "ibricks" and i would hate to have a $300 mistake because i couldn't live without mms?
    i went to the modmi site on the computer and it kept freezing up, so it never allowed me to read about iphone4 and what to do....

    As long as your computer doesnt crash during that 2 minutes your phone is being jailbroken your fine.

    Download redsn0w the latest version, plug your phone in and follow the directions to putting it in DFU mode (push 2 buttons on your phone within 20 seconds) and click jailbreak.... simple as that...

    Currently using AT&T GoPhone[3 years now I think] $50 "unlimited" plus the $25 500mb package So that's $75/month. This is more cost friendly Ordered a sim card & will be attempting this later in the week will check back if it a success of failure. Good Job

    Good you shouldn't have a problem. I would highly recommend the op updating that you don't need the profile. It kept me from sending pictures.

    Has anyone tested iMessage, FaceTime, and MMS with this on a 4S? I just came across this thread and am interested in switching over from AT&T's ridiculous Pay As You Go fees, especially data.

    If this helps, I have my APN editable in settings > general > network > cellular data network by patching my CommCenter from this repo: http://v.backspace.jp/repo and adding this code to my carrier.plist to get above listed working on Pay As You Go
    Code:
    <key>AllowEDGEEditing</key>
    <true/>
    If these work on a 4S then i'm so sold on it.

    EDIT:
    You can not brick your phone when attempting a jailbreak. If it fails you can easily restore and try again. You can not brick an iDevice unless you're attempting to some some extreme low level modification to it.

    I don't see why a 4s wouldn't work with FaceTime and everything. My wife didn't have her 4 when I had my 4s a few days ago but my 4 with st face times and iMessaged her 4 with tmobile last night with no problems over wifi. I have 3gvenice so I can FaceTime anywhere. She has edge so I havent tried using it without wifi. The 4s is pretty much all the same you should be fine.

    I've seen my iPhone up from scratch about 3 times. To get everything %100 working (FaceTime, iMessage, MMS) all I did was pop the sim card in, connect to wifi, and either download tetherme or use unlockit.co.nz. For MMS you do need to be able to edit your APN setting. I'll update the original post with a few methods of accessing the APN setting.
