Many people (including myself) buy an iDevice, and never plug it in to a computer after the first setup except to update or jailbreak. I decided to share all of the info I have learned over the year I've had my iPad by making a guide. Please suggest anything you would like to see so I can add it. Also, if this thread was helpful to you, please rate it helpful.

    Making MobileSafari a full browser

    Native Downloading
The first notocable function missing from MobileSafari on your iDevice is probably the ability to download files. Usually you would get a prompt that says "Safari could not download this file". The best way to download files natively in MobileSafari is via a tweak called Safari Download Manager. As a bonus, when you download Safari Download Manager, you get $2.00 off iFile. You could also use Safari Download Plug-In, except I can only confirm this working on 2.x. For downloading YouTube videos, see Downloading YouTube Videos. You could also use one of many downloading apps available on the AppStore (see Non-Native Downloading)

    Safari Download Manager
    Jailbroken- Yes
    Type- Tweak
    Price- $5.00
    Firmwares- 2.x, 3.x, 4.x
    Creator- Dustin Howett
    Repo- BigBoss
    SBSettings- No

    Safari Download Plug-In
    Jailbroken- Yes
    Type- Tweak
    Price- Free
    Firmwares- 2.x
    Creator- Jonathan Misurda
    Repo- BigBoss
    SBSettings- Yes

    Native Uploading
Another thing you may notice when using MobileSafari is that on a site such as YouTube, upload links do not work. Safari simply will not allow you to upload. The Safari Upload Enabler tweak will enable native uploading of files on most websites, including Facebook, YouTube, PhotoBucket, and Mediafire. The only alternative is using a dedicated app.

    Safari Upload Enabler
    Jailbroken- Yes
    Type- Tweak
    Price- $1.99
    Firmwares- 4.2+
Creator- H. Samara and N. Bassen
    Repo- BigBoss
    SBSettings- No

    Home Page In MobileSafari
By default, MobileSafari opens to a blank page. This can be easily changed with the Home Page In Safari tweak. After installing, there will be a new option where you add bookmarks called "Set as Home"

    Home Page In Safari
    Jailbroken- Yes
    Type- Tweak
    Price- $0.99
    Firmwares- 4.x
    Creator- Will Strafach (chronic)
    Repo- BigBoss
    SBSettings- No

    More Tabs In MobileSafari
If you are like me, and love to have a lot of different tabs open, then MobileSafari's 9 tab limit is a pain. This can be easily lifted with a simple tweak. Just install Tab+ and you have infinite tabs. No settings, no hassle.

    Tab+
    Jailbroken- Yes
    Type- Tweak
    Price- Free
    Firmwares- 3.x, 4.x
    Creator- Phoenix3200
    Repo- BigBoss
    SBSettings- No

    Natively Downloading YouTube Videos

There is a tweak in Cydia that will be very helpful for those who like to download YouTube videos. You can even add them to your Videos library with the help of gremlin. The best tweak for this is YourTube or YourTube 2, or YourTube HD for iPad. YourTube is the successor to MiTube, and integrated into the native YouTube app. If you don't want to pay, you could use MxTube, or if you arent jailbroken, see Non-Native Downloadin.

    YourTube
    Jailbroken- Yes
    Type- Tweak
    Price- $5
    Firmwares- 3.x

    Viewing Downloaded Files

Now that you have downloaded files such as Word Documents, and maybe music or videos from sites such as Amazon, you will want to view the files. The best App for viewing files you have downloaded with a native downloading plugin is iFile. It is really all you will need to view any file type, however you will be able to move files into apps such as Pages (see Microsoft Office) for editing.

    iFile
    Jailbroken- Yes
    Type- App
    Price- $4.00 with free trial
    Firmwares- 2.x, 3.x, 4.x
    Creator- Carston Heinelt
    Repo- BigBoss

    Non-Native Downloading

There are many apps for downloading and viewing files on iOS. Just search the AppStore for download, and you will find many free and paid ones. This is the only way to download files without jailbreaking These apps all require you to use a browser built into the app, or enter a download link. You will then be able to view the files in-app.

    Using A Keyboard and Mouse

Although touch screens are a great technology, sometimes you just want to use a physical keyboard and mouse, such as when typing long essays (or this guide). Here I will teach you how to use a keyboard or mouse with your iPad and other iDevices.

    Using A USB Keyboard
Unfortunately, this currently only works with the iPad.
In order to use a USB keyboard, you will also need the iPad Camera Connection Kit. You can simply plug the USB part of the connection kit into your iPad, then plug they keyboard into the USB port.

    iPad Camera Connection Kit
    Type- Accessory
    Price- $29.99
    Firmwares- 3.2+
    Creator- Apple Inc.

    Using A Bluetooth Keyboard
You will not need any additional software or hardware, just a Bluetooth keyboard. First, make sure your keyboard is in pairing mode. Then simply go to Settings-->General-->Bluetooth and choose your keyboard.

    Using A Bluetooth Mouse
In order to use a mouse with your iDevice, you must first download BTstack Mouse from Cydia. Then put your mouse in pairing mode, and open the BTstack Mouse app and choose your mouse.

Using A Flash Drive or External Hard Drive

A lot of people like to store their files on a USB flash drive or external hard drive, and these can easily be connected to your iPad if you're willing to spend a bit of money. First, you will need the Camera Connection Kit. Simply connect your flash drive or external hard drive, then open iFile, select your device in the side bar, and browse the files.

    iPad Camera Connection Kit
    Type- Accessory
    Price- $29.99
    Firmwares- 3.2+
    Creator- Apple Inc.

    iFile
    Jailbroken- Yes
    Type- App
    Price- $4.00 with free trial
    Firmwares- 2.x, 3.x, 4.x
    Creator- Carston Heinelt
    Repo- BigBoss

    Microsoft Office

If you are using your iDevice as a replacement for a computer, you will want to be able to edit Word, Excel, and PowerPoint files. The best apps for this are the Pages, Numbers, and Keynote apps, which can be downloaded from the AppStore.

    Pages
    Jailbroken- No
    Type- App
    Price- $9.99
    Firmwares- 3.2+
    Creator- Apple Inc.

    Numbers
    Jailbroken- No
    Type- App
    Price- $9.99
    Firmwares- 3.2+
    Creator- Apple Inc.

    Keynote
    Jailbroken- No
    Type- App
    Price- $9.99
    Firmwares- 3.2+
    Creator- Apple Inc.

    Photography

    Importing Photos
If you have an iPad, you can easily import your pictures with the iPad Camera Connection Kit. Simply plug your camera or sd card into the connector, then plug the connector into the iPad.

    iPad Camera Connection Kit
    Type- Accessory
    Price- $29.99
    Firmwares- 3.2+
    Creator- Apple Inc.

    Organizing Photo Library
It's a pain to have to plug your iDevice into your computer to organize photos. It's even more of a pain if you know you can import them without a computer. Luckily SpiritOfLogic has made a tweak which will allow you to organize your whole photo library, including making albums. Simply download PhotoAlbums+ from Cydia, and you will easily be able to organize your photo library right in the Photos app.

    PhotoAlbums+
    Jailbroken- Yes
    Type- Tweak
    Price- $4.99
    Firmwares- 4.x
    Creator- SpiritOfLogic
    Repo- BigBoss

    PhotoAlbums+ For iPad
    Jailbroken- Yes
    Type- Tweak
    Price- $6.99
    Firmwares- 4.2+
    Creator- SpiritOfLogic
    Repo- BigBoss

    Editing Photos
There is a whole Photography section in the AppStore. Browse until you see an app that looks good, and download it.

    Games

There are a ton of games for iOS. If you simply go to the AppStore games section, you will see a lot of games. If you just search best iOS games on Google, you will see a lot of great games.

I think, eventually, one can replace a computer. Everything is getting more and more complex. Maybe itll be in a year. Maybe 10. who knows...

I know it can never fully replace it, but this is what I have done for the summer, I haven't had a computer for 2 weeks, and this is what I did.
