Sorry for dumb question, but ffs I can't figure how to do this on my own.

I read guides over net but nothing seems to work in my case.

After having big problems with restoring I finally restored to 1.1.4.

Made a clean installation of WinXP and installed iTunes 7.7 and tried to install custom firmware 2.0 with WINPWN 2.5 everything installed fine, but my iTunes were saying that my iPod is connect but can't be recognized so I went back into DFU and tried to install clean 2.0 it installed fine but instead of home screen I saw iTunes activate screen and iTunes again wasn't detecting my Touch and were saying that my iPhone [wtf?] gave wrong answer and something is wrong with it. So again I went into DFU and now tried to update to 2.1 but iTunes is stuck at preparing ipod screen.

How should I update it to get working 2.1 which will be detected by my iTunes?

I need advices or some step-by-step instructions how to do that because I'm doing it since two days and or I have not working at all 2.0/2.1 or working 2.0 which is not detected by iTunes.

Looking forward to get help - sorry for me being so dumb in this case.

    Upgrade to iTunes 8.
Make sure it's on 2.1 firmware.

So now I should do 1.1.4 using iTunes 7.5, then install iTunes 8 and update to 2.1 firmware? And then if so jailbreak it, is this order correct?

Sorry for so stupid question but I just want to be sure to not f*** it again and loose whole night on upgrading it.

By iTunes8 you mean 8 or 8.0.1 [or 8.1 or however its name is].

It didn't work out, when I pressed restore in iTunes 8.0.1 it turned Touch into iBoot mode and after few second on preparing the ipod screen iTunes gave me an error 13, any idea?

Or should I restore it in DFU?
