Here's what you need to do
    1. Download OfflineMaps from Cydia
    2. Use a tool called GMDL to download any map you want. Size can vary, however, a map the size of Houston and suburbs is around 100-150 MB.
    3. Convert the maps to iPhone format, and then SSH them into your iPod at a specific directory(it tells you when you download offline maps)

And you are done, your iPod is now a GPS.

The only thing you can't do is create a route, you'll have to do that by yourself when you have wi-fi. HOWEVER, as long as you have the cached maps, your iPod can find out your position. I was able to drive around town and my iPod showed me exactly where I was.

WARNING - The iPod has a small screen, so I don't ADVISE you to check it while you drive, but then again, people text while driving so it's your call.

That's not GPS, which is Global Positioning System. But, it is nice to have for when you need a map and your not online. Nice tutorial though.
