I have all of my music on my external hard drive. I just got a new pc and need to transfer the music into itunes. In the past I thought I could just drag and drop the folder but it is not working now, an X comes up on my cursor. The only other way I can get my music into my itunes library is to physically play it, I don't want to play over 2000 songs.

    What could I do?

    Thank you very much.

well I eventually want to keep it on the hard drive to free up space on the pc and if I move the folder back, iTunes won't be able to locate the files....

Usually you can just go, in iTunes, and select "File>Add folder to Library" and select the folder and BOOM it adds all of the content.
