Due to idiotic threads on how to text on your iPod touch, I will make the final thread. This is NOT the Teleflip method.

To do this you will need:
    A Jailbroken iPod Touch
    An AIM account
    MobileChat Application

    1. Ok, So first of all go and set up your AIM account if you have not already.
    2. Go to installer and find mobilechat. I suggest downloading version 2.23
    3. Download mobilechat. Respring and open mobile chat.
    4. Go to add account and set up your AIM account using mobilechat

Ok now this is how you text.

To text simply start a new conversation go to New IM and put:

    +<numbergoeshere>

With <numbergoeshere> as the actual cellphone number. You must enter the area code and the number. So for example, If I wanted to text my friend Jane and her number was 17182345678, I would open mobile chat, connect, press new IM and put:

    +17182345678

then it would take me to the IM page where I can write a message and after a while I would see a small pop up that says that the message has been sent to the mobile phone.

Remember you need Wi-Fi to do this (Obviously) and keep in mind that mobilechat can also be used to IM from your iPod touch.

This guide is just for members that don't know how to do this already.

P.S. - If you wanted to make it more realistic (as in iPhone) I would suggest finding the iPhone SMS icon and using SSH replacing the existing MobileChat icon. Then you should rename mobilechat to SMS.

Haha, it didn't even occur to me that you could do this! Very nice.

I would assume so, because of the +1 (international) at the start.

Ok, I'll try it out in a little while and confirm it for Canadian users.
