Alright, I just jailbroke and unlocked my iPhone using reds0w 0.9.4. My problem is, how do you tell if the unlocked worked without a SIM?

I think I know what you're saying. You have to use a SIM card for it to work. For example, an unlocked iPhone in the US will only work with AT&T or T-Mobile.

I thought unlocking allowed you to use any carrier?

You can't use Verzion because they don't use SIM cards in there phones.

In a way, but the way iPhones work you can only use specific carriers after an unlock. There's a more technical definition, but I'm not familiar with it. You could probably find out more by Google searching. Sorry :\

EDIT: Look at RoYaLx's post, my interwebs were too slow to load their post before I posted mine.
