Please Register or Log in to view images I've been seeing a lot of retarded tags lately, so I thought I would post a bit of a guide on how to tag things properly. * First of all, and possibly most important, make sure your tags are relevant. This may seem like a no-brainer but I saw "school" on a thread about McDonalds earlier. -_- Don't add tags that have absolutely nothing to do with the topic of the thread. * Second, don't be too specific. Think about the TYPE of the thread more than the thread content specifically. For example, don't add "McDonalds" to a thread about McDonalds. Why? Because there probably won't be very many threads about McDonalds over all. Instead, tag it with "food", and/or "fast food", and so forth. You need to think as broadly as possible about the type of the thread. * Lastly, not every thread needs to be tagged (and try not to tag things with uncommon words). Chances are if it takes you more than a few seconds to think about what to tag something, then the thread doesn't need any anyway. As far as using uncommon words go, again, this comes down to the fact that you want tags other people are going to be using as well. The whole point of tags is to find multiple threads about a specific subject, and if you tag a thread about daydreaming with "phantasm".. chances are it won't do any good for anyone, since it's not a very common word. I've been seeing some threads tagged with things like "announcement", "sticky", "2.0 jailbreak", and so forth in those forums. That's totally not needed, given that the forum its self serves as a much better way to organize those threads. Don't add "forum" tags to threads, if a person wants to find them, they can search by forum or just look at the forum itself. That's basically it. Try to remember these guidelines when you tag threads.
