I have a couple songs that I wanna sync over to my iPhone 3GS, but at the same time I do not want itunes to touch any of my apps on the phone. When I tried to uncheck the "sync applications" tab on iTunes, it says that all the apps on my phone would be removed. Is there a way around this?

P.S. Last time I tried syncing only the music, I ended up wiping out all the "paid" apps on my phone ( if you know what I mean

Then highlight the songs you would like to sync to your iPhone and drag and drop onto it, should sync for a couple of minutes.

I tried checking that option but once I did, it asks if I am sure that I want to delete my applications and data from my phone. it seems like iTunes wants to delete my apps anyway I go

To prevent iTunes stealing your apps, right click your iPod on the side menu, then Transfer Purchases. To prevent more of this hapening, get [Removed] from Rock or Cydia.

no offence but why is this even being talked about. […] is a piracy hack/mod/what have you, and if your "paid" apps are actually legally bought then there would be no problem.
