ok, this is really getting on my nerves,
when i'm laying down and I want to surf the web, the screen intuitively starts rotating, which is really frustrating.

is there any way to "fix the screen to one position" without it being rotated every time i surf the web?

well there is no setting that i have heard of that will stop the rotation becaus their is a sensor on the front of the screen which cant be stoped. the only thing i can tell you is not to lay down when on the web, and dont rotate the ipod!

Slight correction: The accelerometer is internal. The sensor on the front is a light sensor to automatically adjust the backlight brightness depending on ambient light conditions.

heres a quick solution if you want it to stay in landscape mode while lying on your yourside:
just hold it so that the bottom of the ipod touch (where the home button is) is facing up and your ipod won't turn vertically since it's setted to not format the screen upside down.

1 bad thing about this is that your hand covers the wifi antenna and sometimes you lose reception if you cover it fully

QFT, I had this problem until I figured out this method. Hold it sideways, let the screen rotate, then turn it upside down and lay on your side.

I've got the perfect solution. Lying down, u turn to ure left because safari refuses to turn upside down. Sorry if I'm a bit late on a solution but I hope this helps

    Stop rotation of iPad screen

What was the mute switch on the iPhone is the rotation lock on the iPad.

If it's jailbroken, there's a screen rotation lock for SBSettings
