This guide will help those that keep asking why they can't SSH into their ipod touch or iphone. I know it's getting really annoying hearing everyone's different stories. NOTE THAT YOUR DEVICE MUST BE JAILBROKEN FOR THIS TO WORK What device do I need to SSH? For Mac, you need terminal. For Windows, try WinSCP. Those are the two used most. How do I get my ipod touch's IP? Simple, click Settings > Wi-Fi. Then click the little blue arrow on your connection and grab the IP from that page. What's my user and password? Username is root. Password is alpine. In rare cases, the password will be dottie. It still won't connect to my device! Odds are you don't have an SSH server running. Head into the install app and search for the application Open SSH. Download it. After it's completed the download and you restarted the touch, try to connect to the device again. The first time you connect, it will take 30-60 seconds. It STILL won't connect! The problem is usually out of our ability to fix it then. Make sure your connecting through port 22 and that the IP is correct.
