Quite easy.. 1) Download and install WinRAR Code: goo.gl/FMPQH 2) Download and install pList Editor Code: goo.gl/4k7at 2) Download Google Voice from your computer with iTunes. 3) On your computer go to My Music > iTunes > Mobile Applications 4) Rename "Google Voice 1.0.1.ipa" to "Google Voice 1.0.1.ipa.rar" 5) Double click your newly named file, then double click "iTunesMetadata.plist" , it should open with pList Editor. 6) Find: Code: <key>softwareSupportedDeviceIds</key> <array> <integer>2</integer> </array> Replace with: Code: <key>softwareSupportedDeviceIds</key> <array> <integer>1</integer> </array> 6) Go to File > Save and close pList Editor. WinRAR will ask you to update the archive, hit Yes. 7) Next in WinRAR open Payload > GVDialer.app and find Info.plist at the very bottom and double click it. 7) Find and delete these lines: Code: <key>UIRequiredDeviceCapabilities</key> <array> <string>telephony</string> </array> 8) Go to File > Save then close the pList Editor. 9) WinRAR will ask to update the archive, hit Yes 10) Rename "Google Voice 1.0.1.ipa.rar" back to "Google Voice 1.0.1.ipa" 11) Double click the .ipa, sync, and finished!
You don't have to install manually, just edit the iTunesMetadata.plist to Code: <key>softwareSupportedDeviceIds</key> <array> <integer>1</integer> </array> It should sync fine then.
That's a whole different subject. The reason why it doesn't work is because it actually uses the actual Phone app on the iPod. The phone app will make a quick call (I think, correct me if it doesn't make a call) and creates a proxy connection to Google Voice (Engadget stated this), this requires a phone number that is attached to the phone to do. Since the iPod isn't a phone, it can't do this. It's really more of a hardware problem over anything. You can't do the standard call my cellphone to make the call technique. If you want to make calls use Vonage, iCall, or Whistle. They are all VOIP services that work well. I use Whistle because you can also get incoming calls too If someone made a tweak that could connect your Whistle, iCall, or Vonage to the mobilePhone app, then it might be able to be enabled, otherwise, we're stuck with just SMS for now. At least this SMS tweak doesn't break FaceTime.
This did not work for me. I think it requires you to download that one app on cydia from the repo that wont be named...
Have to give it up to you. This sure does work! Many thanks!! Who cares about calling I dont use it anyway.
