The ipod's "power off" button died on me, and I had to flash the ipod with the original firmware to send it to apple for warranty.
However, those f@©ke®s voided my warranty and didn't repair the damn ipod. (Reason: water "damage" on the connector, not even inside the ipod nor near the power off button.)

Anyways, I now need to jailbreak it, but I don't have the Power off button to put the damn thing in DFU mode. Am I stuck with a piece of sh!t or do I have a chance?

    Thanks,

NOTE TO ALL: Don't use your ipod's at the gym, with armband or inside pockets, as sweat will void the warranty of your device. Have fun...

There may be a program that can put your iPod into DFU for you, but I'm not sure.

Someone come help this poor kid...

Fix it yourself? Don't ask me, though, I have no idea how to disassemble a 2G and if I told you what to do, you'd probably break it.

Go to a light that gets really hot, let it run a while. Then hold the power button on it for 5 minutes. Try it again.

I ordered a repair toolkit. Hopefully I can fix the issue.

If not I have some evil plans. I wonder what the return policy is for big stores such as bestbuy or futureshop in regards to ipods?

May I ask what is the reasoning behind this? Heat could damage the screen not to mention the battery.

Maybe the intention is to bake it at 350 for ten minutes and then stick a toothpick in it...

I saw somewhere that when you have water damage on your ipod you see inside the headphone jack something red and somehow you could change it back to normal.
I hope this helps you somehow.

Putting the iPod into DfU mode was only available in the 1.1.x days...
