So I had this issue... thought i'd share in its own topic to help. This is if you upgraded to the 3.1.1 firmware and thus is not jailbroken. You are fine to have iTunes 9. 1. Backup. A-duh! 2. Get hold of the 3.0 firmware. 3. Get into DFU mode 4. Restore to the 3.0 firmware on your iPod. 5. Once that is on, just select as a new iPod.. Don't bother any syncing. 6. Get QuickPWN (Mac or Windows) and create a custom 3.0 Firmware. 7. Restore the 3.0 firmware you just made, thus jailbreaking. If you get the WAITING FOR REBOOT hang... Just unplug the cable then plug it straight back in. You don't need to stop or cancel. 8. Using PwnageTool (or whatever), Create a custom 3.1.1 firmware package, using the backup you made of your 3.1.1 firmware in step 1. What I did, is used Expert Mode on Pwnage Tool. Selected the first option and unticked ICY and the custom boot logos.. then build. 9. Restore 3.1.1 Custom firmware in Recovery mode You should now be jailbroken. Kinda takes a while... and a bit annoying to do... But its the way its gotta be done Please Register or Log in to view images Good Luck!
