Okay, Geohot released his version of the jailbreak called Freeze. This is a tool to jailbreak the iPhone 3GS! Here's how to go about it!

    1. *Guide works for Windows and Mac version!
    2. Go to purplera1n.com and click on your OS symbol to download the program.
    3. Plug in your iPhone 3GS via USB.
    4. Run purplera1n(if your running Vista, run in XP capability mode).
    5. Click on Make it Ra1n.
    6. Wait for the iPhone to reboot, will show the purplera1n picture.
    7. Run the application, Freeze, it will download and install Cydia(not Icy).
    8. *If Cydia doesn't show up right away, reboot your iPhone.
    9. Done! Never been as simple as this!

    Update:
RC2 was released fixing codesigning errors and other things like OS support. Winterboard is still not supported, although it's now up to saurik to fix that as purplera1n patches what needs to be patched for Winterboard to run. Happy jailbreaking!

You may want to wait for the iPhone Dev-Team to release their tools but after this release, they should be coming very soon!

Run it in XP compatibilty mode. If you ever get that restore logo crap. Close out iTunes and Purplera1n. Restart Purplera1n. It should boot it with the Purplera1n pic on the 3GS. Then run freeze.

Run it in XP capability mode. I'm finally jailbroken, what?, three days after I got my iPhone when I thought I would have to wait forever! I'm freakin jailbroken, it's awesome! Cydia is so unbelievably fast, I can't even tell you over this post, it's so fast....

im still really unsure whether to do this or not...

i jailbroke my ipod touch when i had it and it was great, but the things which were missing are now kinda included in the 3G S, and 3.0 software, i guess the only thing i would use would be themes

Even though the program is weird looking, it's the easiest jailbreak I've ever used!
