    Hey guys

I just decided id teach you how to jailbreak your ipod the quick, easy way without having to restore.

Before you start jailbreaking make sure you have the following:
-iPod Touch 2G 2.2.1 (I don't know about other version, but i have jailbroken 4 ipod with this method and they all are working fine)

    -Jailbreak installer http://www.sendspace.com/file/xyl8is

-iTunes 8.1 (Search youtube to find out how to downgrade)

PS: i have itunes 8.2 and it worked, but to know if it's going to work, when you DFU, it will go to a blank screen. If it ISNT going to work, it will say 'Connect to iTunes' on your ipod.

    Now follow these steps:

1: plug in your ipod, and set it to DFU mode.

2: extract the files you downloaded and run 'redsn0w.exe'

3: A black command prompt box will open, and if you DFU'd correctly, will say 'DFU mode complete' or something along those lines.

4: it will start downloading the files and your ipod will make chime noises and go to a white screen etc. (dont worry, its normal)

5: the black box will eventually close and it will start downloading jailbreak data on your ipod touch.

6: thats it, you're done! Now you will have Cydia

    THIS IS UNTETHERED

If there are any problems send me a message.

(I did get this method off a youtube video, but he covered it with a big red annonation so you can see it anymore.)

Or you could just update to 3.0 in iTunes without restoring and then jailbreak. It's a lot easier.

absolutely amazing what i can find on this site when i know what i'm looking for.
but i couldn't find a post that i used to reference, guess it was taken down.
this just saved my entire library since i didn't have to restore
    THANK YOU!!!!

now if you can help me with my 1gen 8gb that gets stuck with the progress bar under the apple during restore. i can't do anything with it it just gets stuck whenever i try to restore. i think my wife let it jostle around until a connector to the logicboard came loose.

but again THANK YOU SO MUCH
