    Using PwnageTool and without errors!
    What You'll Need
    • an iPhone 3G Jailbroken on 4.0-4.0.2 with redsn0w
    • iOS 4.1 IPSW for your iPhone 3G
    • PwnageTool 4.01
    • A Mac
    • This PwnageTool bundle posted by Msft_guy

    **Unlockers**
In the 4.1 update Apple broke hacktivation... This presents a problem for you guys because now you need to find an AT&T SIM card to use your iPhone. If you disable the Baseband update(It should already be in PwnageTool) then you will still have the ability to unlock, you will just need an official SIM card to use the phone for activation. Make sure hacktivation is UNCHECKED, it will screw with your network.

    General Information
Well this guide requires that you be on a iOS software version under 4.1 and that you are jailbroken. If you have already upgraded to 4.1, without using this method or any way to preserve your baseband, You will NOT be able to unlock. And you will not be able to downgrade to iOS 4.0 unless you have saved your blobs. You may restore to 3.1.3 or below.

    Getting Started

So lets begin. Open PwnageTool, and see what devices are available. Mine only showed the iPhone 3G and the iPod touch 2G, yours might differ however.

    Close PwnageTool.

Now right click on PwnageTool in Finder and Show package Contents. Then navigate to Contents/Resources/FirmwareBundles and there should be 3 files there.

Rename your bundle you downloaded earlier to match the iPhone 3G bundle(iPhone2,1 ect..) and replace the file. now close the window.

Open PwnageTool and click Expert mode. Select the 3G(Yes, I know you have an iPhone 3G, don't worry it works.) Then Select your 4.1 IPSW.

Customize as needed. And then when it's done, just exit PwnageTool and restore in iTunes!

All jailbroken and everything should work!

    Enjoy guys!

    Possible Errors/Issues
    • Error 160x or 16xx-You restored from a device that was currently not jailbroken, Downgrade to 4.0, Sync, and Jailbreak. Then restore to your 4.1 CFW.
    • Error 1015-Refers to an error with the baseband. (Using a Newer Baseband on a lower firmware). You will get this when (And if) you need to downgrade to 4.0. Use rslite to kick it out of recovery.
    • "My iPhone isn't receiving signal! It has the one bar with no carrier!" - You need to uncheck "Activate Phone" when making an IPSW in PwnageTool, this is the whole section IN RED LETTERING on **Unlockers**.

Download the files, put it in a flash drive, and drive to the Apple Store.
