Make sure you are on 1.1.1 or 1.1.2 and jailbroken with Installer.app installed.

Step 1. Download the iBrickr Special edition Link

Step 2. Extract the zip to your desktop, run iBrickr.

Step 3. Follow the instructions, when asked, download the firmware from Apple's website.

Step 4. This should take at least a few minutes to finish, and then upload to iPod, so if it goes really fast it didn't work. Try again.

Step 5. You should then download the "1.1.3 soft update" from Installer in the System category. If it is not there, refresh your sources.

Step 6. You should boot into 1.1.3 iPhone firmware. Don't worry.

Step 7. Gain access to your iPod using Touch Explorer Link

Unzip to your desktop, then copy this file from your computer into that folder.
    C:\Program Files\Common Files\Apple\Mobile Device Support\bin\iTunesMobileDevice.dll

Step 8. Open Touch Explorer, navigate to /System/Library/CoreServices/SpringBoard.app and download the file titled "Springboard" It will be just a blank icon with no extension. Right click on it, the choice with the (W) will allow you to select your Desktop.

Step 9. Download the attached zip "sdelta3" to your Desktop and unzip it there. Drag the SpringBoard file from previous step into this folder as well.

Step 10. Open the sdelta3 folder right click on the file cygwin1.dll and select Open With. Find command prompt, it should be in /Windows/system32 it will be called "cmd.exe".

Step 11. Command Prompt should open into the sdelta3 folder. Type the following command below.

Step 12. This will patch your SpringBoard file, once it's done, send the new Springboard file back to the iPod in the /System/Library/CoreServices/SpringBoard.app and overwrite the file there.

    Step 13. Reboot your iPod.

    Enjoy

why do I need to use touchexplorer if I want to do this? Does SSH work?
Great guide though. I will be using it once I have the balls to do the jailbreak.

edit: what benefits do I get from doing the sdelta3 stuff? and if I use this guide, do I still have to mess with my n45ap.plist or my settings.app?

NO Balls needed. The DEV's of the JB have said that a Touch friendly version should be deployed in the next couple days

touchexplorer is the easiest to use because it is all computer based, nothing to install on the touch

this method does not involve any .plist editing or anything

just the one command in the command prompt

as long as you can access the filesystem and download and upload files to it, it doesnt matter what method you use.
