[HOW TO] Jailbreak 1.1.2-1.1.5 using iLiberty. Pictures Included!

How to Jailbreak 1.1.2-1.1.5 Using iLiberty!

This is a N00bguide created by RenegadeKrogan.

**Warning- I am NOT responsible for anything that happens to your ipod. Nothing will happen if you follow the directions.**

This guide is intended for ipod touch users but it can be done with the iphone.

Jailbreaking is essentially re-writing the ipod touch info so that you can add 3rd party apps like games and themes.

Before we begin you will need...

-Firmware 1.1.2-1.1.5 (I suggest using firmware 1.1.4 because with 1.1.5 you cannot add customize or summerboard. Click here for firmware 1.1.4.

After you have downloaded firmware 1.1.4 you will want open up itunes and hold shift then press restore and navigate to the 1.1.4 download.

    Now we can begin.

Step #1- You are going to need to download iLiberty which can be found here

If the above link for iLiberty does not work then you can alternatively downoad from here.

After you have downloaded iLiberty and installed it go to step #2.

Step #2- You will want to open iLiberty. By double clicking the desktop icon.

Step #3- Go to the advanced tab at the top and choose available on repo which is on the bottom.

    and then

    Step #4- Click refresh

Step #5- Select the following from the available on repo/
    -BSD Subsystem
-Cydia or Installer (Or both...Installer is recommended)
    -OpenSSH
-Relocate Fonts and Ringtones (frees up a lot of space for more jailbroken apps)

Step #6- Click download which is near the bottom right-hand corner.

Please Register or Log in to view images

Step #7- Go to Local Payloads

Please Register or Log in to view images

    and select the following
    -BSD Subsystem
-Cydia or Installer (Or both...Installer is recommended)
    -OpenSSH
    -Relocate Fonts and Ringtones

Step #8- At the left-hand top area select "standard"

Please Register or Log in to view images

and make sure "Jailbreak" is selected.

Please Register or Log in to view images

Step #9- Select "Go For It" (Yours will look different because I do not have my ipod plugged in)

Please Register or Log in to view images

Step #10- You wil see this window.

Please Register or Log in to view images

Click okay and then iLiberty will begin to jailbreak your ipod touch. Writing will show up on your ipod screen and that is normal. Do not unplug the device until it is done.

Your ipod will restart and you will now see that you have installer or cydia on your dashboard. You can now download applications, games and more. Look around for information on how to do so...

Be happy! You just successfully jailbroke your ipod and you are set to download free apps.

I think you need to update your tut.
You mention green tabs and red tabs and all the screen captures are outdated.

    Nice Tutorial

Great tutorial, worked perfectly, even if the pictures weren't all that great, but even so, you can still tell what the tutorial is telling you to do

Hi i'm new to all this jailbreaking business but i came accross this tutorial n i have to say, its ace!

    quick question tho...

before i have even opened up iliberty, i should hit restore on my itunes??
i have version 1.1.4 at the moment and it says it will install version 1.1.5..will this ACTUALLY be okay? i know you have said it will be but many people have said it is buggy or something.

basically all im wandering is whether or not i need to restore my ipod?
like i said im new to this so any help is appreciated! thanks

Welcome to the forum! 1.1.4 will work. If you restore the ipod then it will go to 1.1.5 which worked for me as well. IT is completely your choice. 1.1.5 can be a little buggy thouhg because you cannot install custumize of summerboard which let you choose what your ipod looks like.

    Thanks for the welcome!

cool, I hear there is a way of going back down to 1.1.4? am i right?
    would it be worth doing?
i guess its just a matter of opinion and choice..
but the 'restore ipod' is absolutly necessary?
