In this guide I will show you how to get your hotmail in mail app through a gmail account and thunderbird.

    1) Go to: http://webmail.mozdev.org/installation.html and download Web-Mail and Hotmail by right-click the link above and choose "Save Link As..." to Download and save the file to your hard disk.

    2) In Mozilla Thunderbird, open the extension manager (Tools /Add-ons).

    3) Click the Install button, and locate/select the file you downloaded and click "OK".

    4) Restart your thunderbird.

    5) Go to Tools/Add-ons Click on web-mail options and change the POP port to 1100 and the SMTP port to 2500 and make sure they are running.

    6)After Go to File/New/Account

    7)There select Web Mail

8)Fill in your account info and in the "Incoming User Nane" put your e-mail

9)At the end uncheck the download messages know.

10)Then go to Tolls/Add-ons and go to the hotmail add on options

11)There you will see 3 tads in the Modes tad select Hotmail, WebDav or Hotmail Live just test each one sometimes you may receive an error saying"negative
vibes error" or something just go back to the hotmail options and change the Mode you selected.

12)In the POP tab put your settings however you want and in the SMTP tab don't change anything.

13)Set up your gmail account on thunderbird by goin to File/New/Account and selecting Gmail.

14)After you set up your gmail account go to Tools/Messages Filters.

15)Select your hotmail account from the drop box a go to new filter.

16)Name your filter Forward in the For incoming messages that: options select Match all messages.

17)In Perform these actions: select Move Message to in the first drop box and in the second select your gmail account's Inbox. Then save the rule.

18)In the main window right click you hotmail account and select properties. There go to the Server Settings and check the "Check for new messages every box and put like 1 or 2 minutes.

19)Also check the automatically download new messages.
20)Do the same thing for your gmail account.

21)To check that it is working make sure to have an un-read e-mail in your hotmail.

    21)The End

    Important:
1)When ask for hotmail password put your hotmail password
2)When ask for gmail password put your gmail password
    3)When receiving the "negative
vibes error" you have to change the mode that the add-ons connect to your hotmail in the hotmail add-on options
4)You have to leave thunderbird running so that it forwards your e-mails.

YES THERE IS!!! the only issue is that it only works on 2.0 and above. Anywho, go to the hotmail login site and save it to the springboard by pressing add as favorite then choose add to springboard. After that there'll be an app thats called Hotmail or whatever you named it, just save the password and username and everytime you click the app, INSTANT HOTMAIL!

well atleast you don't have to sign up for any accounts or stuff. The mail app is intentionally NOT made for hotmail, you see Apple and Microsoft are compeditors so I doubt that we'll see and actual Apple hotmail app. This does the trick just fine.
