I know this is bad, but I'm doing this just for fun. He has a laptop that he brings to school and it is password protected. I just think it would be funny to figure out what it is... I swear, I wouldn't do anything bad with it. Anyone know a way to find it without messing with the BIOS?

Well think about it. You're going to hack into WINDOWS XP to find the administrator password. Is that a malicious thing to do?

Then download the LiveCD/LiveUSB and use that to find the password.

Oops. I really thought kthxbai was ok. Sorry tes, editing now. And did you have to mess with bios to make the liveUSB work? (The liveUSB is same as LiveCD, right?)

LiveUSB is just restoring a CD to a USB flash drive. Just burn the LiveCD to a CD/DVD RW and away you go. In the BIOS, if you want to boot from Flash, you just have to change the boot order and add booting from USB Flash to the top. It should be USBFDD or USBFD I think.
