Getting started 1) What is a (iPod/iPhone/iPad) hacker? A hacker is a microcomputer user who attempts to gain unauthorized access to proprietary computer systems. For the average user; a hacker attempts to gain read/write permission on their iDevice. Like getting access to the root file systems and being able to edit them. An example(of a hacker): George Hotz AKA Geohot There is more info on him in the Sources section 2) What will it take for me to become a hacker? Okay first off let me say if your thinking about becoming a "hacker" then you better be prepared to have TIME, PATIENCE, STUDYING, and HARD WORK. This will not happen over night... or days... or weeks. So be ready to be %100 commited. 3) I think I can do this, so how do I get started? Well first you should be able to know what a jailbreak is. After that a good start is learning how computers work. A good way of doing that is learning C programming language. This is a pretty low level language. It'll be pretty hard to learn and takes a lot of time but will it is a great knowledge to have. Also learning this will make it easier to learn other languages in the future like C++ and Assembly. You also need to know what an exploit is and read/study traditional exploiting. This will help you find loopholes in the device to be able to jailbreak. I have gotten some great responses. I have had three people message me about getting into it and instead of writing each one of them everything I know, I decided to write this for everyone. PLEASE NOTE: I am NOT a hacker. But I am working on becoming one. I'm learning C right now. Also: Most of the information in here is taken from what people have told me, (again big thanks to Axis for providing me with a lot of information) so don't flame me. If you do decide to criticize me please give points. I will be adding more to this too, I will add useful info that people post in response to this and other things I find.
