Don't use time limits, use your ears. Turn your sound up and do what he said except scratch the 10 seconds and 6 seconds and instead of counting wait until you hear the sound you get when you plug or unplug something in your computer. Hope I helped you.

ok, i think i *may* have it.

itunes still has the message "your ipod is in recovery mode and needs to be restored"

BUT my screen is black (but the backlight is not on)

    is this DFU mode?

I have a similar problem. My itouch doesn't want to turn back on after DFU. I held freakin' Power and home down. Any advice? I know there are other ways to get it out of DFU mode.

if it doesn't work when you hold down both the butons, you *might* have to restore. Try holding them for at least a minute- 2 minutes. This happened to me back when i was jailbreaking 2.2.1 with quickfreedom. Just keep trying.
