Getting Album Artwork on your iPod

If you're downloading music off LimeWire, or another P2P file-sharing client, most of the albums you sync to your iPod touch will have a music symbol (♫) for album artwork. If you follow the steps below, you can manually add album artwork to your iPod touch. Note: You can find album artwork off Google Images, etc.

    1. Plug your iPod touch into your computer via the sync cable.
    2. Open iTunes.
    3. Select the Music tab under the Devices menu, once iTunes recognizes your iPod touch.
    4. The library of songs that you have on your iPod will appear. Right click on a song, or highlight every song from a certain album at once, and select Get Info from the drop-down menu.
    5. Choose the Artwork tab.
    6. Select the Add.. button and choose the artwork from your computer.
    7. Once you have selected the artwork you want, press OK.
Now, sync your iPod and the song(s) and/or album(s) will now have artwork.

You could also copy an image from Google images, highlight song(s) and paste it on the bottom left.

Or, since you can get a Free account easily now through the App Store, why not get the album artwork directly from iTunes for Free? Which is usually around 600 x 600 pixels. And a bit easier to do. All you need is the correct Artist and Album name.

Ahem... Gracenote/iTunes will not get you the album artwork for random obscure stuff, or anything that isn't on the iTunes store (The Beatles, etc.), will give you the wrong artwork for a variety of things (try Led Zeppelin II, it gives some random guy holding a fork against a yellow background), and doesn't give you artwork unless the titles are exactly right (which is usually not the case for illegally downloaded materials, which this guide is aimed at.)

    Hmph.

I know it usually doesn't have art for Obscure things and most non licensed stuff like the Beatles. But that it still has a huge load of art. Like for indie bands. You'd be surprised at the amount of album art they have. All the songs I've gotten so far, iTunes has the album art for. The main thing it looks for is Artist name and Album name. Song names are easy to change.

And I'm betting that the people who use "Limewire" and the such mainly listen to stuff thats mainstream and already on iTunes or is new.
