if it doesnt work for you then try switching your Wifi connection to another one. i couldnt do it at my university but works great at my home

Here is my tutorial on how to get unlimited free incoming calls and free outgoing calls. A note before you do this - I havent extensively tested the outbound calling, but the method of dialing is an UNLIMITED FREE TRIAL. That means there may be certain restrictions on outbound calls (such as a time limit, etc).

1. Register for a free inbound US number on freedigits.com:

Go to freedigits.com and click "sign up" towards the upper right of the page

Enter your information and click register

Follow any further instructions they give you - this may consist of entering a registration code sent by email, etc.

Once you have your number, make a note of your number and password for the freedigits.com site. You will need this when filling out the Sip-Voip settings.

2. Set up Sip-Voip for your freedigits account:

Enter Sip-Voip on your touch and go to settings.

Enter these settings:
Username: Enter your freedgigits 10-digit number here. EX: 5555555555
Password: Enter your freedigits password here. EX: foo
Sip-server: freedigits.net
Timeout: 500
Enable NAT?: No
STUN Domain: Leave blank
STUN Server: Leave blank

Once you have filled out these settings, you can run a test call or just try to connect to the sip-server. To call your ipod, simply dial 1(555)555-5555 (replace the 5's with your freedigits number) if you're in the us, or 001(555)555-5555 if you're outside the us. If you cannot connect to the sip-server, you have entered a setting wrong. Double-check your settings.

3. Learn how to make an outbound phone call with your freedigits number (NOTE: freedigits only allows you to accept incoming calls, not dial outbound ones. Ths method will allow you to make outbound calls.) You can do this in MobileSafari - make sure before clicking dial that your ipod is connected to the sip server.

Go to http://www.voipbuster.com/en/freetrialcall.php

In the "Your number" box, enter your freedigits number in international format. (EX: +15555555555, yes you can enter a plus sign on the ipod's number keyboard. Click the key that shows the plus sign, and it will bring up 3 new keys. Click the plus sign.).

In the "Destination" box, type in any number, also in international format.

Make sure your ipod is connected to the sip server

Click the dial button on the webpage.

In a few seconds, your ipod should ring. Go into Sip-Voip and answer the call.

When you pick up, the destination's phone will ring. When the Destination picks up, you will be connected and able to talk, FREE FOR YOU!

This works the best for me so far. I wish there was a better way to get unlimited calls or alot of calls monthly for free and you can get a local number.

I did everything right but when I click Connect to Server it says Connection Error...Do I have to download the software or something on my comp?

Is freedigits.com not working? I get an error saying that the account is suspended.

Ok, I have finally reached the end of the free trial for the dialing website...That's what you get for running 15 test calls.

I have found another website to make free trial calls:
http://www.voipcheap.com/en/index.html

That's used the same way as the first site.

Also, I'm trying out another service. This one is run by voipuser.org, and is truly free outbound sip to pstn calling. I have registered on their site and have to wait 3 days to recieve my free account and start calling. Here's a screenshot:

As you can see, it provides the information for the sip-voip app, as well as a free pstn number that can make outbound calls. I will try this and report back with the results.

Edit: Here's another screenshot of the sip-voip info. Note that the password entered into the settings must be the one provided at registration, and cannot be changed.

woww. very cool :] thank you! quick question though.. I didnt have my earphones nor voice system plugged in but if I did could I hear and talk to the person i call by using the free trial call? Yes, correct?
