ok, i can connect to the sip server with my freedigits account, but when i call the number from my cell, ipod doesn't "ring". help?
also, i tried the voip buster method, and my phone got the call, but no sound transfered from either device, and the ipod showed no signs of being connected. halp!

ok what you do to make a call is..

    open SIP-VoIP..

connect to the freedigits server and stuff..

    press the home button..

    go into safari..

go to that site, voipbuster site..

put your number in the first box.. (yes with a plus before it, for example: +17777777777)

put your destinations phone number in the next.. (for example: +18888888888)

press the call button, or whatever it says there..

your ipod should ring, close safari, and go into the SIP-VoIP.app

    press answer

    and you should be calling

hope this helps, or makes it more clearer.. rep please? :p

    :D

...which is what i just said in my tutorial.

    Anyway, 318aye:
Make sure your settings are correct. Enter your number without the country code, only the 10-digit number. The password is case sensitive, and the sip server is freedigits.net, not .com. Also, try raising your ipods volume via the music app before opening sipvoip.

You can also try setting the app's permission to 777 (from the "No sound solution" thread here).

If you have any more problems post back.

i'll try the permissions for the sound, and the issue wasn't connecting to the sip server, it was that when i called it, both using this service and a cell to my freedigits number, no noise or popup happened. what should happen when picking up a call?

Ok, I have finally reached the end of the free trial for the dialing website...That's what you get for running 15 test calls.

I have found another website to make free trial calls:
    http://www.voipcheap.com/en/index.html

That's used the same way as the first site.

Also, I'm trying out another service. This one is run by voipuser.org, and is truly free outbound sip to pstn calling. I have registered on their site and have to wait 3 days to recieve my free account and start calling. Here's a screenshot:

As you can see, it provides the information for the sip-voip app, as well as a free pstn number that can make outbound calls. I will try this and report back with the results.

Edit: Here's another screenshot of the sip-voip info. Note that the password entered into the settings must be the one provided at registration, and cannot be changed.

Important: To understand how the voipuser.org free service works, see here:
    http://www.voipuser.org/forum_topic_328.html

PLEASE NOTE I AM CURRENTLY TRYING THIS OUT! I DO NOT KNOW IF IT WORKS AS OF YET. IF AND WHEN I DO, I WILL ADD IT TO MY FIRST POST. (Pretty much, dont ask questions or post "how do i do it?" YET.)

Exactly, but that could all change with this new site. We'll see.
