Hey I recently had to restore my ipod and jailbreak it again
this was after I installed a program called screenshots
    my ipod went crazy
the ipod logo, and a screen filled with black and white lines kept blinking
so i restored it, rejailbroke it and went through the whole process again and everything was fine
just now i tried a summerboard theme called luminous
and when i clicked restart summerboard, it jsut froze
so i hooked it up to itunes an it kept beeping
then the apple logo and the little spinny thing went on screen and it got stuck like that
everythings technically fine because i can hook it up to itunes and sync it, so that means i can always restore it,
however ive POURED time and effort into installing apps, cutsomizing it, and adding new sources. I REALLY dont want to have to do that all over again, so is their anyway to simply turn it off when it's glitching?
I mean their has to be a better way, I don't even think that that was an unstable theme or anythin, i think it just randomly glitched

So.... is their any way to turn it off or force restart or something alternative to restoring and re-jailbreaking and re-installing all those apps again?

P.S. I'm thinking of simply leaving it be, I was thinking about letting it run out of batteries and then plugging it in tomorrow morning to see what happens

this happened to me with the screenshot application but not with the luminous. I guess theres no other choice but the force restore it. I don't even know you can do force shutdown or restart, never heard of them for the ipod touch or iphone.
i know it will be trouble some to restore it and redo all over again but restoring it just safer. when you think you got its fix without restoring but again something happened. its just better to restore it.

You could let the battery drain by unplugging it. You can also hold down the sleep/wake button and the home button until it restarts. That should do the trick.

Sorry, better luck next time? Also you have to hold the sleep/wake button and home button down.
