If you have SSH turned on, this should work, otherwise, you will first need to figure out how to navigate the folders without SSH.

If you notice, you will have a limited window to SSH seeing as how the iPod reboots itself every 3-7 minutes. If it reboots while you are in this process don't worry, just click on reconnect when the spinning wheel of death returns (SWOD).

    1. Navigate to /var/mobile/Library/Preferences and copy over the com.apptap.SummerBoard.plist file onto your computer.

    2. You will need to convert this before you continue. I'm working on getting the link approved before I post it so for now, search for convert plist file in these forums.

    3. Open up the file in a text editor program, and look for the strings:

    <key>themeName</key>
    <string>NAME</string>

Where NAME should be the theme you just applied that caused the SWOD. Change this to a theme that you know works and make sure you type it in correct.

    4. Save this file and copy it back over to /var/mobile/Library/Preferences.

Hopefully your ipod is now fixed! If it is not, lookaround in that same preferences folder, and make sure all of the plist strings start with "com."

thank you. and yea, I'm hoping this isn't a one case thing so that people aren't forced to restore if this happens.
