New release on the first post. It fixes the symlink errors and a few naming bugs. It fully works on my own iPad and should work on your own.

New version on first post. Changes include minor version bug fixes and fixed FaceTime in call buttons.

I get an error that my iPad is not mounted as root, even though it is. It says root and I also have afc2add installed. How can I fix this? Mac OS X Lion 10.7.2 (OSx86)

The iPod Touch 4G firmware that matches your iPad's firmware version.

Did you type in the iPad's name EXACTLY as it appears on the Desktop? Can you browse through the iPad's filesystem with Finder?

I have no icons on my Lion desktop. Not even my home hard drive. It is shown in finder as a device though, and I have typed it in perfectly. With the backslash for the apostrophe also.

Do you have any strange characters in your iPad's name? There are some characters that it doesn't like. Have you tried naming your iPad "iPad"?

Nope. It's my sister's. It's called "Marissa's iPad" and I type it like "Marissa\'s iPad". with or without the (Root) when it shows/not shows in Finder.

I've noticed that the latest version of PhoneDisk doesn't append "(Root)" at the end of the iDevice's name anymore. I do suggest temporarily renaming the iPad to "iPad" and trying again. On iOS 5 you can rename it in the about settings.
