[Tutorial]How to easily obtain iPod Touch Restore File 2.0.1 from Apple

This will work even if you have not purchased 2.0 but you will need to have firmware 2.0 which you would have to pay for or download from another site. We are going to download the official restore file from apple that way you can assure that it is clean.

    Firstly open up iTunes

    1. The plug in your iPod and click on it in devices
    2. Click on update
    3. Click Next and Agree
    4. Wait for it to start downloading the firmware in downloads and unplug your iPod
    5. After Download has finished go to:
    Windows Vista:
    C:\Users\[USER]\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\iPod Software Updates
    6. You should then see your downloaded restore file e.g. iPod1,1_2.0.1_5B108_Restore.ipsw
    6. Copy it into a different folder
    7. Delete the itunes downloaded copy
    8. Go to iTunes and go to Download right click and delete
    9. You may now plug your iPod back in and pwn the restore file

    Hope that helps!

If anyone knows where the 'iPod Software Updates' folder is on different versions of windows and on MAC please post them! For Windows XP it should be somewhere in C:\Documents and Setting\[USER]\ApplicationData\...\...\...

Also if you cannot find the AppData folder you need to unhide hidden files by going to in explorer: Windows Vista: Press Alt + 'Tools -> Folder Options -> View Tab -> Hidden Files and Folders -> Show hidden files and folders' then press OK
    OR

A quick way to get to your Application Data is running %appdata% from the Start menu.
