    mac os x
    back up music
hard drive then music then copy all "iTunes Music" to desktop
then go to your hard drive again then applications then move itunes to trash and empty the trash can.
then delete the folders in "music" and empty the trash can.
and just incase, move the icon from the dock... if it is still there to the trashcan and delete and empty that.

once that is done choose the mac os x file and download it.

I would also recommend that if you have purchased the iPhone App Pack through iTunes, you should also make a copy of that.
In Win XP it is located in C:\Users\[Your Name]\AppData\Roaming\Apple Computer\iTunes\Mobile Applications\

The name of the file is "iPod touch App Pack 4A93.ipa

Just make a backup copy of the entire folder "Apple Computer"

Then at a later time if you go back to iTunes 7.6, you can copy the folder back to the original location, sync your device and your purchased apps are back.

Thank you so much! I was pulling my hair out over this! My ipod would not update to 1.1.2 jb. I had tried 3 or 4 times, thinking i was making silly mistakes or something. None of the guides said to make sure you didn't have 7.6. So instead of downgrading, i just booted into xp and did the jb there (i didn't have itunes, so downloaded the 7.5 version from your link). Now fully a jailbroken 1.1.2 ipod is sitting on my desk

I do not have a Mac so I cannot answer that.

Perhaps someone with a Mac can answer this for you hopefully.

    Thanks

Hey man, when I did this I had the same thing happen to me. The only thing that fixed it was updating iTunes back to 7.6. I managed to jailbreak EVERYTHING using 7.6 and the app iNdependance; downgrading iTunes is a total waste of time. I should know, I wasted hours playing with all of this today.
