All praise/credit goes here. I did make some changes, but only to the format and a few grammatical/spelling errors.

This guide will show you how to restore your iPhone from 4.0 beta back to (a more stable) 3.1.3. This guide was made for the iPhone 3G, although there should be nothing stopping it working with a regular iPhone 3G. The original iPhone isn't supported by 4.0.

Any mention of downloads are at the bottom of the quote.

Great guide, this will help a lot of "me too" users who prematurely updated to 4.0

Exactly. Thanks, though. I just hope it works! I know it worked for at least one person.

Yeah, I'm thinking about downgrading from 4.0. It's very unstable.

Is this just for iPhone? No work on other devices?

    Should work for all devices.

For the iPod touch 3G, I found that dowloading a 3.1.3 image and restoring from DFU mode worked fantastically. J suppose if you are having problems downgrading, then this guide should work for everything.

Could you not use Xcode's Device Manager to restore back?

I'm sure you could^ (I believe that is another option) but I found this to be easier, plus it works for Windows.
