Is there something wrong with using FWChanger which can change FW from 1.1.1 - 2.0 within seconds? Thats what I use.

Nice post. Thanks for the info. My screen is all messed up, and I'm taking it into the Apple store for a new one. I was afraid I was stranded in the distant lands of 2.x.x, and wouldn't be able to restore back to 1.x.x, which I'm sure the "geniuses" would like more (seeing as how my account never actually purchased 2.0...). Anyway, thinks for the post, it's very appreciated. Also, does anybody know if the 2.0 purchase is linked to your account, or your iPoT serial number?

It is linked to your iTunes account, the apps being kept in your iTunes library. You can use it for many iPod (as per my experience).

And I don't think it does not store your serial number for any purpose.

But the real question here is, Why would you want to downgrade back to 1.1.X? It's slower and more buggy. Plus App Store has a lot of nice, FREE apps that are professionally built using the SDK, and you can still jailbreak and get emulators, themes, etc.

The reason for NOT upgrading or for downgrading is Apps. What if for example your main use of Ipod Touch is to watch movies on the go , and what if there is a fantastic movie player for 1.1.4 with Mega Bass and all sort of very good features. And what if in the entire Apps Store there wouldn't be a single app similar to this player. Would you still upgrade ? Just for the sake of upgrading ?

I can't wait to upgrade to the latest firmware. Of course - the moment I will know that I can find Apps identical or better than the ones I use in 1.1.4.

    You ROCK!!!

Firmware 2.0.x just doesn't do it for me- I became used to my old 1.1.5 and it had less bugs too. Not having OpenSSH and Terminal installed was *$%@! Thanks for this guide. You're a good person.
