Right firstly alot of people have errors as they try downgrading using the 3rd gen 3.1.2, but if you use the 2nd gen 3.1.2 you wont have any problems. as the 8gb is mostly classed as 2nd gen.
(p.s this is for MC model and you wont need shsh blobs as its for the 8gb models)

This is done using itunes 9.2 i dont know if you have to have itunes 9.2 all i know is it works as i have done a few.

    1. Download the correct firmware ( PM me for link as i dont know if im allowed to put a link up )

    2. put your ipod into DFU mode, To enter DFU mode, hold your power button and home button together until your device turns off (do not slide to turn off it will do its self) then let go of the power button but not the home button! keep this pressed for another 10 or so seconds until you hear a duu duu sound on your computer, you are now in DFU mode.

3.in itunes hold down the 'Shift' button and click restore at the same time, now locate the firmware what you downloaded and select it. Thats it, now chill while itunes does the job

    4. you can now jailbreak

Ya it wont work...If your ipod was shipped with 3.1.3, you can NOT downgrade to 3.1.2. Ya its a piss-off

I've tried so many times to downgrade my shipped 3.1.2 MC model ipod touch from 4.0 down to 3.1.2 and i keep getting error 1604 (If I'm not mistaken.) And I always have to completely reboot my Device. I want to use jailbreak my iPod again.. Hopefully i figure this out, or I'll have to wait

its a nice quick guide RyanF, I'll try this one again, as one of my firmwares i downloaded were 267mb and the other one is 297mb..lol ...maybe that's why it didn't work in the first place...anyways, i'll let you know if it worked.
