Well it wasn't completely me. I took the information of other websites, including from here. And some youtube videos and made my own method. I tested it twice already. I successfully did it both times and I just made a tutorial video on how to do it.

This is made with iTunes 9.2 and a 8 gig 2g MC model iTouch!

Hope this works with 3.1.2, Just tried it with 3.1.3 and i got the 3194 error.

Doesn't Work with 3.1.2. If your iDevice was shipped with 3.1.3, you cannot downgrade below that. My iPod touch was shipped with 3.1.3, therefore, it didnt downgrade and i got error 28.

I bought my current iTouch on January 2010 because my old one died. (battery problems... and it was 1st gen soo i wanted the new one anyway). So this should work. I started with 3.1.3 I believe. Make sure you have iOS4 when you try my method though. then downgrade from 4.0 to 3.1.2 because otherwise I don't know if this will work. I have not tested that.

Only works with 8GB iPods because they're 2G's, technically.

I have a iPod Touch 2G MC 8GB with iOS4, it came with iOS 3.1.3, but i screwed it up with cydia and installing packages that were ment for 4.0 (Stupidest idea ever.) iTunes wouldent let me restore to 3.1.3 or 3.1.2 so i tried 4.0 and it worked so i tried downgrading to 3.1.3 and 3.1.2 and that didnt work so now im stuck with 4.0 and as far as I know 4.0 isint jailbreakable for my device. How do I fix this?????? or how do i jailbreak it?

This doesn't work...you can't downgrade to 3..1.2 if your iPod was shipped with 3.1.3. I got error 28 and was stuck in recovery mode. When i try to downgrade to 3.1.3 i get error 3194 although I add the host file...
