When you sync your iPod, iTunes should automatically backup your applications, and save data.

where do the files go? Cud they're not in the apps folder, and there aren't any notifications about them backing up. I also just realized every time I plug in my iPod the iTunes freezes for a while and a message appears and it says syncservices can't function or something like that

or you could just right click on your Ipod and click Back up Files
