[CRAZYLOOF's REPO MAKING GUIDE V.1.1] A LOT of people want to know how to create their own repo so i'm creating a noob proof guide to making one. I know shotgunfool has a repo tut, but when I first set up my repo I tried to follow his guide and it never worked for me, so I just thought id post a revised guide on how to make a repo. The time required to make a repo will be about an hour-2 hours so hold tight. [:: // Download the repo.xml code \\ ::] Download the repo.xml code here: http://[PIRACY.rs].com/files/90541108/UnEditedRepo.rar.html http://www.sendspace.com/file/0zd1ku http://crazyloof.googlepages.com/UnEditedRepo.xml [:: // Create a Webpage at Googlepages.com \\ ::] Go to http://www.googlepages.com and create an account. Log into the account. It should look like this after you are logged in: http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y199/crazyloof/Step2.jpg [:: // Editing the repo.xml \\ ::] After downloading the UnEditedRepo.xml above, right click it, click "Open With..", then find Notepad.exe. Picture: http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y199/crazyloof/step3.jpg Picture: http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y199/crazyloof/step32.jpg Next you will need to edit the .xml. Click the picture below to see what goes where. PICTURE : http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y199/crazyloof/step4.jpg Now Save your repo as "repo.xml" !! Make sure you click the down arrow in notepad and click "All Files" BEFORE YOU SAVE or it WILL NOT WORK as a .xml !! Picture: http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y199/crazyloof/step42.jpg [:: // Adding Packages to your Repo \\ ::] Open your repo.xml the same way as you did in Step 3. !! Upload the .ZIP of the item to your googlepages account !! Picture: http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y199/crazyloof/step4123.jpg !! The files will have to be a MAC readable .zip, there is a guide at the bottom explaining how to do this on windows. !! Edit the coding using the following picture: http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y199/crazyloof/step43.jpg After it is done being edited, save it as repo.xml, be sure to click "All Files" like in the previous step so it saves as a .xml and not a .txt. Upload repo.xml to your googlepages account. [:: // To add more packages to your repo follow the picture below \\ ::] [UPDATE] Picture: http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y199/crazyloof/addingmorethen1package.jpg Example Picture: http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y199/crazyloof/repoex.jpg [:: // Connecting to your Repo! \\ ::] Go to your googlepages account and right click repo.xml after you upload it, the url shown here is the url you need to add in installer to connect to your repo. Add this url and refresh sources to use your new repo! [Hellrider's Guide for zipping on Windows V.1] How to Zip Files/Folders on a PC, So That They Work on Your Repo I have seen far too many threads asking people to zip their files on Mac or Linux so that they can be used on their repo. I hope this brings all of that to an end. *I did not figure any of this out myself; I received excellent instruction from Scythal and ChriB. Please follow these instructions carefully: 1. Create a folder on your desktop that you can easily find and remember the name of. (I suggest something like "zip" or "zipper") 2. Download this command line Cygwin zipper made by Scythal (Please correct me if I'm wrong; it was my understanding he made it.) here: scythal.googlepages.com/zip.zip 3. Extract the two files to the folder that you made on your desktop. There should be two files: one called "cygwin1.dll" and another called "zip". 3.a- Don't try to click on "zip" as there is no GUI, and it is run through the command line. 4. Click Start, then Run; and type in "cmd" before you click "OK". 5. In the command prompt window, you will have to change directory (cd) to the folder containing "zip" and the "cygwin1.dll". 5.a- type in something like this (your drive may be different.) cd C:\Documents and Settings\UserName\Desktop\zipper *In your case it should be: cd PathToTheFolder 6. Copy and paste the theme, folder, or whatever you want to zip into the folder made in Step 1. *The commands for zipping files and folder differ slightly so please read on carefully below. FOR FILES Type this command into Command Prompt: zip NameOfZip FileToAdd FileToAdd2 etc. *The zip will appear in the folder you created in Step 1. FOR FOLDERS Type in this command: zip -r NameOfZip FolderToAdd FolderToAdd2 etc. *The zip will appear in the folder you created in Step 1. _______________________ I hope this guide helped, and I feel the incessant zip requests can die out now. **Thanks to Scythal for teaching me almost everything I know on this subject.
