Yes we really need this. I'll update this thread whenever I have time. I have about 10 problems and solutions in mind already. Ok maybe quite a bit more than 10...PLEASE STICKY THIS!

How do I know if Apps are iOS4 compatible?
    Check this spreadsheet

    Slowness
    My iDevice is really slow
    1) iOS 4 is naturally slow for particularly older devices, it's not just the jailbreak.
    2) [Speed up your device by removing LaunchDaemons]
    3) [Remove wallpaper overlays to make your device fast]
    4) Turning off Spotlight in Settings app
    5) Disabling Multitasking/Wallpapers on an older device using [a plist edit]
    6) Installing 'Remove Recents' from Cydia

    Very Short Battery life
    1) iOS 4 naturally causes fast loss of battery life
    2) Turn off wifi when you're not using it, and disable push notifications, because wifi is persistent

    SBSettings
Brightness setting lost after a lock
    1) Normal, SBSettings has not been fully updated.
    2) You must change brightness permanently using the Settings app

    Winterboard
    Dock is pushed up!?
    1) Someone correct me if I'm wrong, dimensions of the Dock in iOS4 have changed, to fix, resize the dock to 320x45 px?

Auto create icons does not work
    1) (From iRa1n) Make a folder called com.apple.mobileicons.framework, and you put appiconmask and appiconshadow in that file

Theming doesn't always work for certain elements!?
    1) Apparently some things have been renamed and some images have disappeared, so themes need to be updated for iOS4. [List of iOS4 moved images here] (Thanks XxRedRumxX!)

    Cydia
    Slow loading changes, refreshing?
    1) Normal, but may be sped up by using [This Tutorial]

Sub-process bzip2 has returned an error...!?
    1) [Tutorial for fix here]

    Persistent safe mode/Bootloop
    1) Caused by a variety of problems, usually caused by installing normally incompatible iOS 4 Cydia apps
    2) Aptbackup and Pkgbackup are not to blame, it's that you've installed incompatible apps using them
    3) So, install Cydia apps manually, do not restore from backup
    4) If you can, remove offending apps using SSH, otherwise, restore

    Star/Jailbreakne.com
When turning on the device, screen has line of glitched pixels and has a loading circle
Normal, everyone's experiencing this. Wait for about a minute, and your device will turn on normally. The line is only experienced if you use the Star jailbreak, though.

I can't jailbreak using Star/Jailbreakme.com, it gives me the Purple Screen of Death!?
    1) Make sure you're on the official iOS 4.0 Betas will not work
    2) Clear the cache in Safari
    3) Make sure iBooks is installed
    4) High traffic will also cause this

    Cannot 'Slide to Jailbreak'!?
    1) Enable Javascript for Safari in Settings app.

    TinyUmbrella
Displays: NOT running as administrator OR your hosts file is not editable - Cannot listen on port 80! TSS Server will not work!
    1) Make sure you're running as Administrator
    2) [Identify if any program is using Port 80]
    3) If command prompts do not work, [Fix paths]

    Can't save 4.0.2 SHSH blobs?!
    1) Use the newer version of [TinyUmbrella], it's been updated.

    Can't detect my Device?
    1) Reconnect your iDevice
    2) Try rebooting your device when connected to the computer
    3) Note*** You don't need to be in DFU to save blobs!

    SSH
    Can't SSH after iOS4!?
    1) Passwd gets reset after any restore, so login with Root/Alpine

Can't change password with MobileTerminal, it crashes!?
    1) Use latest beta 4.26 version, note that it's still unstable [Download here and install the .deb with iFile]
    2) Use this tutorial to change the password [Tutorial here]

    iPod
    Music is gone!?
    1) iTunes's fault, everyone has this. You'll have to resync/redownload, if you haven't backed it up using SSH.

Appears to freeze with loading circle or at the lockscreen after respring?
    1) Wait for a minute, this is normal
    2) If it's past a minute you might need to restore... or wait until battery fully runs out and recharge to 100%

Battery does not appear to recharge when plugged in/Shows plug symbol for fully charged
    1) Normal, lock the screen, unlock and it should look normal
    2) Or unplug and try again

iTunes displays "This device isnt eligible for the requested build" when trying to restore OR Error 28 OR Error 3194
    1) You need the SHSH blobs for that firmware if you see this message. If you don't have blobs, you can't downgrade.
    2) [If Cydia has your Blobs]
    3) [If you have blobs locally]

I've made [insert change here] using SSH, iFile or Winterboard and it doesn't show up
    1) Respring, and it should show up.

When I install something from Appstore sometimes DemoApp, Adsheet and iPod out appear, as well as apps I've hidden using SBSettings?
    1) Respring and it'll look normal again. Common.

    Spirit/iTunes wants QTFC.dll!?
    1) Download the file from the internet and put it in \windows\system32

I knew most of these fixes already, but this definitely deserves a sticky for the people who don't know.

Since I've had first hand experience knowing how frustrating it is to search the entire internet for a problem almost everyone already knows.

you should add this to the theming part so people know the names of the images that have been changed

The winterboard dock settings is still 320x41. Anything else defaults to the normal dock.
