After days of searching and figuring out stuff there is finally a way to change the double tap home button shortcut to any application. This has been tested on fw 1.1.4 and i am not sure about others.

    1. Download The Extended Prefs that is posted on here and install it: http://www.ifans.com/forums/showthread.php?t=57583

    Installation (SSH):

    1) Download the file and unzip it
    2) SSH into your iPod/iPhone and unzip it
    3) Do this by changing the filename of the old Preferences app to "Preferences.app.backup"
    4) Copy the new Preferences.app to your iPod
    5) Chmod 755, respring and try out the new settings

    ------------------------------------------------------------
    6. Put the N45AP.plist file included in the above thread in here:

    /System/Library/CoreServices/SpringBoard.app

    Make sure to set permissions!

    -----------------------------------------------------------

    7. SSH into your ipod and go to /Applications

    8. Choose the app you want to set as your home button and go into that app's folder

    9. Search for a file called info

    10. Save it to your desktop

    11. Open it up

    12. You need to find the appropriate string
It will be something like: com.[company].[appname]
Ex: The correct string for PocketTouch is:
    com.skylarcantu.pockettouch

    13. Open Preferences and go General and then to Home Button

    14. Take the com.[company].[appname] and put it into the custom double tap spot

    15. Make sure you add doubletap:// to the beginning of the com thing

16.If you have any questions feel free to pm me or post here

Cool, I should just add a input your own com.whatever.whatever here so you can just skip steps 13-26. Actually I think I will!

I sent the files to BigBoss and am awaiting another response. The new version has a few new features and you can check it out on my thread.

If you could delete steps 12-26 and for step 13-15

    13) Open Preferences and go to Home Button

    14) Take the com.[company].[appname] and put it into the custom double tap spot

    15) Make sure you add doubletap:// to the beginning of the com thing

Once you've changed it, how do you return it to the original double-tap function?

Say if I want the HUD all the time, not just when I'm playing music
