    wrong category. and you would use a hex editor.

    a hex editor is a general category of programs. i dont know of any really decent free ones, but someone else will have to help you with that.

    Wrong. iFile comes with a text editor which is all you need to make your own "slide to unlock" text.

    I shall walk you through the steps.

    1 Open iFile

    2 Go to the location /var/stash/Themes.riT08f

    3 Using iFile, click on the edit button on the top right, then click on the plus button that shows up on the bottom left.

    4 You should now see the word "New" at the top followed by ways to name a file.

    5 Tap on name and name it to anything you want such as "slide_name."

    6 Change the type of file to a directory then tap create.

    7 Go to your newly created directory and make a new directory again by following steps 3-6, except this time make the name of this particular directory Bundles

    8 Go to your Bundles location, and make (yet again) a new folder using steps 3-6 except name this one com.apple.springboard

    9 Go to the com.apple.springboard location and make your last folder and name it to en.lproj

    10 Now, create a new file (not directory) and name it SpringBoard.strings

    11 Open the SpringBoard.strings file and type this into it: "AWAY_LOCK_LABEL" = " slide me ";

    12 Change the words slide me to any word(s) you would like and then save the file.

    13 Respring.

    I'd like to know how to do this too. I know there used to be sbStrings, but you have to pay for that now. Is there any alternatives?

    You can also use notepad and winSCP to accomplish this using a computer (Mac and PC.) Absolutely no HEX is involved.
