Is it possible to some how backup my whole entire ipod (like everything, apps, wallpapers, pictures, cydia repos, ect.) and then if I restore the ipod I can easily restore the backup and my whole entire ipod will be back as if it never was restored?

chronus from Cydia is really good for that.

You can get the time capsule from /var/mobile/Library/Preferences

I wish there was a really good imaging program that could bypass iTunes entirely. That would be great....

There is no way of imaging an iDevice yet as far as I know.

SSH. Just copy and paste, and copy and paste it back.

My iOS4 device is as if it has never been restored in the first place

No. It will have a 99.999999% chance of infinite boot loop. 0.000001% may work if nothing changes on your ipod/phone. Absolutely...NOTHING.

    Return to Apple prison

Just to be certain I understand. I have an iPod Touch 2nd gen, Model MB531C with Ver 4.01. still in Apple prison.

If I first run a sync in iTunes, then jailbreak it, then decide to restore using iTunes restore, will it be back to the last imprisoned status with all iTunes apps, files & settings of those apps?

What iTunes files on my Windows computer should I archive before the jailbreak to be on the safe side? When I updated to OS4, it wiped out the backup files so I lost all my data & configs, arg!!!

What are the most useful apps to start with? Where can I find a list of user's favourite apps?

My battery will need replacing soon, so I assume I will need a restore afterwards. What Windows program (aptbackup or chronus?) do I use to restore the Jailbreak features? Is there an iTunes alternative that will do all apps (Apple & unApple), music, contacts & photo syncing etc. to a Jail-broken iPod?

    Thanks
