I want to backup/temporarily remove large apps like some games that I rarely use. iTunes allows only a full backup of the whole system. So I thought I can just zip an app folder with iFile and move it via sftp. If I want to use the app, I just copy it back. But I fear that Springboard notices that the app is removed and deletes the icon to access it and will not restore the icon when I copy back the app (folder), as this is not a procedure intended by Apple :-D Which files have to be in the app folder so that Springboard thinks everything is "ok"? I know that I have to copy in the app in before an update from the App Store, as every version gets a folder with a new id. Are there better ways to reach my intention? I did not find any backup programs for single apps in Cydia. Thanks in advance! Christian
Actually, there are alternatives. When iTunes syncs, it would backup all edited savefiles, so you can effectively delete a game and when you copy it back, it will have all the data back in place. Same for iCloud, except, it cannot store the .app file, so you would have to go back to Appstore to get it. There are no available "Single" backup plans other than this that I know of.
