Just curious, but what does the backup actually backup when you request iTunes to do so. I don't want to lose my contacts or calendar especially. I know there is a backup file in my windows folders. I copied and pasted it to a safe location that will never be formated. Is this what I should be doing in case of an emergency where the original files get wiped out due to a format of my computer or a restore of my iPod?

Also, I have a mobileme account. Love it...but how do I prevent my contacts and calendars on mobileme from being wiped out if I associate a new iPhone or a restored iPod (both without contact or calendar information) to my mobile me account, since they sync with one another and what one does (eg: iPod for the time being), the other (mobileme) does.

Just sync it with your iTunes. It will backup your iPod automatically.

itunes backs up everything on your ipod touch.

(except for the order you had your apps in lol)

incase you do something wrong and have to restore it, you can restore it from the backup . so everything will be as you had it.
