Should I buy my Xbox 360 like this?

By the $199.99 Xbox 360 which comes with a WIRED controler. And then buy a $50.00 Hard drive. Both from Gamestop

    Xbox 360: http://www.gamestop.com/Catalog/ProductDetails.aspx?product_id=43323
    Hard drive: http://www.gamestop.com/Catalog/ProductDetails.aspx?product_id=42322

Can you tell me? Do I need the hard drive or is that only for the extra stuff? As in demo downloads... etc?

    Thank you,
+Rep to anyone who gives me the "good" information.

    EDIT:

    What is backwards compatibility

You need the Harddrive if you would like to save your games, have game downloads (DLC), demos, movies, videos, music, etc. It is highly recommended that you get a Harddrive. The setup you have is iffy though as you are buying both products refurbished - and a used xbox 360 isn't exactly something we all like (Red Ring of Death).

If you don't get a harddrive you'll have to buy a memory stick for your game saves (and a 512mb stick is 50$ itself I believe :/ ). The best buy is the premium pack - comes with 2 games, a wireless controller, 360 and HDD.

Well I dont have much money but I guess im going to save up. Probably gunna by from Costco since Cosco never gave me a hard time. THanks for the suggestions. By the way the elite is to much for me and I belive, a waste of money.

    EDIT:

sh*t in costco a prem is $439.99. That is WAY to much...

But doesn't Gamestop come with a warranty so If I do get a RROD then I can get meh moneyz back?

Most games have new multiplayer maps released. You're going to need a hard-drive to store those on. I bought the premium and it was a great buy. I suggest the premium.
