Why would Motorola do this? It's a horrible idea!

Okay cool trick how does the logo change on this thread? This is by far my biggest problem with Android. I am looking forward to updates to my Nexus 7.

Fact: You should only buy Android devices marketed and endorsed by Google. Like the Nexus line up. You're locked in for updates.

    Until they drop your device.

I wouldn't say the Galaxies are set for sure- just Nexus's.

This site seems to be moving from an objective tech site to a highly subjective Apple fanboy site. It's a shame, because I don't really want to read this website anymore because of it.

You're right. I forget that it's the Nexus line up. The Galaxy line up is a Samsung thing.

Its not so much the fact that we Atrix/Photon owners arent getting ICS, its that we were lied to for a whole 8 months that we would indeed get it. And then they make the silent announcement late on a Friday to minimize the backlash. Why couldnt they have just told us from the start that this would happen? If it was Google's reshuffling, then why couldnt they tell us as soon as they started looking into things?

The phone is certainly capable of running it. Hardware wise, its a 4" Xoom. There are plenty of 4.X roms availible for it, and while the lack of drivers make it kinda flakey (no video recording, unstable camera, jittery hardware acceleration among other things) what did work ran very well, far better than Gingerbread ever did.

The XDA threads paints a pretty clear picture here... this move cost Motorola their brand to every power user with one of these phones, and that word of mouth is going to hurt them long term.

Exactly - they should have been straight with their customers from the beginning.

If calling a corporation out for screwing its customers makes iFans an Apple fanboy site, then I'm happy to say that we will continue to do it.
Actually, if you'd like to look up the definition of "objective," I think you'd find that this post is - instead of buying the BS Motorola is spreading, Joe decided to call them out on it.
