I have mine in my dock whenever I am not using it, for the most part. It is NOT bad for your iPod.

Wow, that is actually good to know. I was always under the impression that leaving it to charge consistently was NOT good for it. However, I guess I am wrong.

Is there something in the iPod that tells it to stop charging so that it prevents an overcharge, if there is such a thing?

I think my battery is damaged or something...mine lasts a week until a message with the 20% battery thing comes up..

I play music about an hour a day, watch tv shows...and the battery dies slowly
im worried the battery is going to stop working soon cuz of this

It won't "overcharge". What happens when your laptop or cellphone is fully charged yet still plugged in? Nothing. Also, turning your iPod on and off uses a significant amount of battery.

A week?? That is pretty good dude.

With a full charge you should get about :
    250 hrs standby time
    OR
    6 hrs of internet use
    OR
    7 hrs of video playback
    OR
24 hrs of audio playback (screen off)

I think the more CPU you use the more the battery is taking a headache because of the ipod's speed and all the videos are pretty much annoying to watch because you can watch them in full blast brightness because its battery usage.
