The tethered version isn't even an issue for me (so far). Rebooting is easy if it needs to be done.

On top of that, how often do you even reboot? once every few weeks?

Umm, I usually reboot when I'm super bored and have nothing better to do. Lol.
And when it crashes, so not much...

Ya, rebooting takes me 2 minutes tops. My Ipod touch has only crashed once, but that's because I was using categories, and I had a folder of 30 apps, and then I dumped them.

Hardly. Maybe once a week or if it freezes when I'm messing with something.

    It's been a week(nearly) for my 2G and over a month(maybe even two) for my 1G.

I can't think of a reason one needs to reboot a lot, as I find a respring is good enough, and frees up enough memory.

What is this respring you speak of?
I always wondered how to get rid of all the cache memory and all that if you don't reboot
